Get Started with DoorCheckr

Welcome to DoorCheckr, your solution for K-12 school door security. Follow these simple steps to set up your account, add buildings and doors, scan doors with or without NFC tags, and generate compliance reports to ensure a safer learning environment.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign up for a DoorCheckr account to access our Free, Regional, or Premium tiers. Provide your name, email, job title, and school/district details to begin. After signing up, you’ll receive a confirmation email to activate your account.

  • Visit the Sign Up page and select your tier.
  • Enter your details and verify your email.
  • Log in to the DoorCheckr dashboard on any device (smartphone, tablet, or desktop).

Step 2: Add Users

Invite school resource officers (SROs), teachers, or admins to your DoorCheckr account. Assign roles to control access (e.g., admin for full control, checker for door scans). The Free Tier supports up to 3 users, scalable to 250+ in Premium.

  • Go to “Users” in the dashboard and click “Add User.”
  • Enter user details (name, email, role) and send invitations.
  • Users accept invitations via email to join your account.

Step 3: Add Buildings and Doors

Organize your school district by adding schools, buildings, and doors. DoorCheckr’s hierarchical structure lets you manage compliance at every level. Attach NFC tags to doors for scanning or use manual entry for non-NFC checks.

  • In the dashboard, navigate to “Buildings” and add a school or building.
  • Add doors under each building, assigning unique NFC tag IDs or manual identifiers.
  • Physically install NFC tags on doors (provided with Premium Tier or purchased separately).

Step 4: Scan Doors with or Without NFC Tags

Perform door security checks using the DoorCheckr web app for NFC tag scanning or any smartphone for manual checks. NFC scans are fast and automatic, while manual scans ensure flexibility for schools without NFC tags.

  • Log into the DoorCheckr app for NFC scanning.
  • For NFC scans, tap an NFC-enabled Android phone on the door’s tag to log status (locked/unlocked) and timestamp.
  • For non-NFC scans, use any smartphone to access the web-based dashboard, select the door, and manually log the status.

Step 5: Generate Reports

Use DoorCheckr’s roll-up analytics to generate real-time compliance reports. Track door scans, maintenance needs, and audit results at the district, school, or building level to meet safety standards and grant requirements.

  • Access the “Reports” tab to view real-time dashboards.
  • Generate detailed reports (e.g., scan history, compliance status) as PDFs.
  • Share reports with administrators or state auditors for grant compliance.
